Fast Fashion (2021) by Gilles bovon & Édouard perrin

This documentary addressed the issue behind fast disposable fashion, the team visited the factories and workers producing for huge fast fashion brands, exposing the ugly reality of mess production in fashion industry.

With fast fashion, we get to see and buy new clothes every week from many brands; but this pleasure is built on the pain of the earth and factory workers. Besides the environmental pollution we all heard about, there are people working 12-15 hours a day in poor conditions for less than half the legal minimum wage. What's worse, chemical products in textile factories are poisoning the workers and local residents. As to the "creative" and "design" part, there's almost none. In order to produce faster and cheaper, brands designers admitted that they were asked to copy from competitors.

This is the documentary that made me want to be part of the sustainable fashion movement. I saw it on TV at home with my family, and that one hour brought me lots of information and shocking truths. It is a must-see documentary on fashion!

The main idea of the documentary is not asking people to stop buying fast fashion, but to always think twice before you buy any clothes. Think about the true costs behind the product. When you buy a $10 shirt, wear it once and abandon it, there were workers sacrificing their health and even life for this. Is it really worth it?

It's important to rethink about the true cost of these "cheap" clothing.

We are the consumers, we tell what the market needs.

We can be the change.
